ICT as constructive tool

What is constructive tool?

ICT  plays a important role in modern education by enabling students to learn through creation and exploration. When utilized as a constructive tool, ICT helps learners build their own understanding and knowledge instead of simply absorbing information from the teacher. This method is grounded in the constructivist theory of learning, which highlights that students learn most effectively when they are actively involved in making sense of their experiences. 


As a constructive tool, ICT encourage students to use various applications and digital platforms to creatively organize, analyze, and present information. It fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Rather than just memorizing facts, students participate in activities that encourage them to explore, create, and reflect, enhancing the meaningfulness and interactivity of their learning experience.

For example, students can utilize programs like Microsoft word, PowerPoint,  and Google Slides to develop digital presentations on topics such as “Domestic animal.” During this process, they gather information, design slides, and convey their ideas through images, text, animations and video. Likewise, students can create mind maps to visually organize their comprehension.

My concept on constructive tool

In my view, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) as a constructive tool involves digital technologies to empower learners to create, explore, and shape their own understanding instead of just absorbing information from the teacher. I believe that when students utilize ICT to develop their ideas and express what they've learned, they become active and independent learners. This approach aligns with constructivist learning theory, which emphasizes learning through doing and discovery.

Using ICT as a constructive tool encourages students to organize information, analyze data, and creatively present their ideas. It helps to essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. For example, students can employ tools like PowerPoint, Canva, or Google Slides to craft a digital presentation on “Environmental Protection.” Throughout this process, they gather information, choose images, write text, and weave everything together into a cohesive presentation. This not only enhances their digital literacy but also deepens their comprehension of the subject.

Likewise, tools can be utilized to create mind maps that link various ideas and concepts. Such activities render learning more interactive, engaging, and meaningful.

Integrate constructive tool using google classroom

As a future teacher, I can integrate Google Classroom into my lessons by creating activities that encourage active learning. In Google Classroom, it can upload lessons, assignments, and resources like videos, documents, and links. Students can engage with these materials by asking questions and submitting their work directly online. This process helps enhance critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, which are essential aspects of constructivist learning.

I can assign a project on “parts of plants.” Students can collaborate in groups using Google Slides to create a presentation that covers each parts of plants that found in the school area. They can upload their finished presentations to Google Classroom, allowing their classmates to comment and provide feedback. The teacher can then review their work, offer personalized feedback, and grade it online.
